When it comes to wood pellets, we all think that they are used for providing heat. As this is correct, pellets can be used be used for biomass boilers, pellet patio heaters, outdoor pizza ovens/BBQ’s, and pellet stoves.
Here at Balcas Energy, we want to provide you with information on the different ways you can use our carbon neutral & locally produced fuel effectively.
What are the different ways Wood Pellets can be burned?
Wood Pellet Boilers – Feeding your boilers with wood pellets is very cost-effective and economically driven compared to other fuels. Wood pellets are environmentally friendly as they are a sustainable fuel source that does not produce carbon dioxide emissions to harm the environment.
Pizza Ovens/Pellet BBQs – Our Biomass Pellets ignite very easily while producing little ash waste. By leaving your appliance to burn for approximately 10 minutes, the temperature will be perfect for you to produce great food.
Pellet Patio Heaters – Pellet patio heaters are perfect for outdoor socialising. Pellet patio heaters are more efficient than gas or electricity as they use wood pellets to provide heat. This means that the heat generated is not only economical but fully sustainable.
Pellet Stoves – Pellet stoves can approximately be 90% more efficient than the average wood burner due to the level of airborne particulates they produce being relatively low. Just like a gas boiler, you can switch pellet burners on and off based on demand, providing an instant source of heat that can be controlled according to your needs.
Benefits of using Balcas Energy Wood pellets?
- A cost-effective fuel – Wood pellet prices have been extremely steady over the past decade, while all other energy sources change dramatically within the market.
- The carbon footprint of wood pellets – Pellet fuel can produce one-tenth the carbon as heating with oil. If the forest the wood pellet material is sourced from is managed sustainably, the carbon footprint is significantly reduced in comparison with fossil fuel heat. This is why in Balcas Energy we pride ourselves with our sustainability story.
- Forests can directly benefit – By using environmentally reliable sources for production, burning pellets releases fewer carbon emissions than if trees were left to decompose in the forest. This allows modern forestry organisations to enhance the rate of carbon elimination from the environment by replanting new trees which absorb CO2.
- Wood pellets are natural – When it comes to using pellets, there are no chemicals or dangerous extracts included that could be harmful to you or the environment. Pellet fuel is made from scratch using green energy and high-quality material from trees grown in sustainable forests.
- Storing is very easy – Wood pellets can be stored in any dry room. They are not easy to ignite and do not pose a significant fire hazard. Whereas fossil fuels such as fuel oil, gas, diesel fuel, and coal are easily flammable and contain have harmful odours.
Why choose Balcas Energy?
Here at Balcas Energy, we produce our pellets in our pellet plants that are located in Enniskillen (Northern Ireland) & Invergordon (Scotland). This ensures that our carbon-neutral fuel meets ENplus A1 standards and will be packed and delivered in a professional manner. We currently offer a range of different sized bags and this is based on your area.
Take note – We have all been getting lots of news of increasing costs which is always unwelcome but we are all exposed to it at the moment. As a regular user of our locally produced carbon-neutral wood pellets, you will know that wood pellets cost increased last winter due to many factors including increasing demand caused by increasing fossil fuel prices and global events reducing the availability of imported product. Despite the cost increases last heating season, our wood pellets remain a very competitive way of heating your home or business and of course, being kinder to the planet.
None of us know what is going to happen next heating season but we just wanted to let you know that if things stay as they are then there could again be a high demand for wood pellets. As one of our regular customers, we wanted to strongly recommend that you take the opportunity to fill your fuel store well in advance of what could be another very busy season.
